GENEVA, Ohio – The Mercyhurst track and field team continued their season with a pit stop at the SPIRE College Indoor Games. Competing in multiple events, the Lakers looked to thrive in competition before heading off for the NEC Championship.
In the long jump, freshman
Eric Grimm placed 13
th overall with a jump of 6.19 meters. Freshman Rowan Oakley placed 28
th overall, with a jump of 5.43 meters. Sophomore
Fabian Berrios placed 30
th overall, with a jump of 5.36 meters.
In the 5,000 meters, sophomore
Xavier Mohamed placed 20
th overall, with a time of 16:34.34.
In the 60 meters dash preliminary round, Grimm placed 25
th overall with a time of 7.18. Freshman
Daniel Turner competed as well, placing 62
nd overall, with a time of 7.49. Junior
Tyler Corbin placed 69
th overall, with a time of 7.59

Dominic Croce competed in the shot put for the Lakers. He placed 44
th overall, with a throw 8.51 meters.
In the one mile run, junior
Daniel Derby placed 31
st overall, for the Lakers with a time of 4:42.77. Sophomore
Max Dillaman placed 42
nd overall, with a time of 4:54.42. Sophomore
Sawyer Bonnett placed 43
rd overall with a time of 4:54.93.
In the 400 meters dash, Turner and Corbin returned to the track for Mercyhurst.Turner placed 35
th overall with a time of 52.76. Corbin placed 47
th overall, with a time of 54.60.
The 800 meters dash saw Derby and Bonnett competing for the Lakers. Derby placed 29
th overall, with a time of 2:04.90. Bonnett placed 48
th overall with a time of 2:10.94.
In the 200 meters dash, Turner placed 40
th overall, with a time of 23.41. Grimm competed as well, placing 42
nd overall, with a time of 23.42. Corbin placed 63
rd overall, with a time of 24.58.
The Lakers continue their indoor season tomorrow when they travel to Staten Island, N.Y. for the two-day NEC Championship, beginning at 9 a.m.
