Men's Tennis Falls to Penn State 7-0

Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team traveled to the campus of Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions for a Valentine's Day matchup. After dropping their matchup with Bucknell, the Lakers were looking for strong performances as they prepare for conference matchups on the horizon.
 
In singles competition, Danylo Rekun competed and fell in his first set 6-1, before battling in his next set, but it ultimately ended in a 6-4 loss for the senior. Lukas Cabue Valverde also had a pair of strong sets, falling 6-3 and 6-4. Two other standout performances came from Mykhailo Polishchuk, who battled but fell 6-3 and 6-4, and Nikola Radisic, who took his first set to the edge and fell 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker, as well as falling in his final set 6-3.
 
In doubles competition, the team of Colm Schultz/Petar Belosevic fell in a close matchup by a score of 6-4, just as the team of Rekun/Cabue did the same. The team of David Mengher and Polishchuk also fought hard, but fell by a score of 6-2.
 
The Lakers ultimately fell to the Nittany Lions 7-0.
 
The Blue and Green will next travel to Cleveland State to take on the Vikings on Thursday, February 19. Start time set for 4 PM.
