YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– The men's track and field team continued their season Saturday at the YSU Mid Major Invitational with top-10 finishes in distance events.
In the distance events, freshmen
Thomas Gaydos and
Camden Pierce paved the way for the Lakers in the one mile run. Gaydos timed 4:24.77, placing him sixth overall. Pierce placed seventh overall, with a time of 4:25.55.
Gaydos continued the day for the Lakers placing 16
th overall, with a time of 8:48.35 in the 3,000 meters.
In the sprint events, freshmen
Connor Stokes and
Devin Easter represented Mercyhurst in the 200 meters. Stokes placed 14
th overall, with a time of 22.41. Easter finished with a time of 23 seconds, placing 32
nd overall.
In the distance events, freshman
Jase Babcock jumped 1.79 meters in the high jump, placing 12
th overall.
Freshman Zachary Noble competed in the pole vault event. He placed 20
th overall, throwing for 4.20 meters.
Freshman
Rowen Oakley and sophomore
Fabian Berrios competed in the triple jump, placing 24
th overall and 29
th overall, respectively. Oakley had a jump of 11.52 meters, while Berrios had a jump of 10.28 meters.
In the shot put, freshman
Gannon McMaster threw 11.93 meters, placing 32
nd overall. Freshman
Dominic Croce placed 59
th overall, throwing for 7.23 meters.
The Lakers continue their season in two weeks, when they compete at the NEC Championships on February 15-16. It will take place at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
