Men's ACHA Hockey Sweeps in Michigan

Flint, Mich. – The Lakers traveled to Fint, Michigan for a weekend series with the ACHA Division 1 newcomers, the University of Michigan-Flint Wolverines.
 
In Game 1, Flint scored early in the first period, but senior John Hanlon replied with a power play goal at 6:46, assisted by fellow senior Conner McCusker, each earning their first points of the season. Later, Hanlon found the back of the net for a second power play with just under five minutes remaining in the first period. This time, he was assisted by McCusker and freshman Nathan Chung.
 
The game remained remained without another goal until freshman Zachary Sullivan netted his first career ACHA goal just under two minutes in the third period, assisted by Nicholas Ramm, his second of the year.

Another highlight of the game was freshman Henry Hunt earning his second win of his young ACHA career, stopping 36/37 shots in his second game with the Lakers.
 
In Game 2, Mercyhurst opened the scoring with a goal by sophomore Kason Tai, his first of the season, seven minutes into the first period, assisted by McCusker and James Cameron, their third and first assists of the year respectively.
 
Flint scored within the first five minutes of the second period, but the Lakers retaliated with a goal from Bowman Klippenstein, his second of the year. Klippenstein was assisted by Hanlon, his first of the year.
 
During the third period, Mercyhurst was able to net two goals, with the first coming at 14:10 from Nathan Chung, his first goal of his ACHA career, assisted by Hayden Cox for his first point of the season. The second and final goal of the period came from Klippenstein, who was assisted by Sullivan, making Klippenstein the leading scorer for the Lakers just four games into the campaign.
 
Hunt was tapped again to take the net for the Green and Blue, coming away with his third win in as many games., stopping 43/44 shots.

The Lakers will host the Tigers of RIT October 4 at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
