Erie, Pa – The Mercyhurst Lakers ACHA Men's Ice Hockey team opened the 2025-26 campaign with a weekend split with the visiting Tigers of Towson University at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.

In Game 1, Towson struck first with an early goal, but the score remained locked at 1-0 for the remainder of the first period and throughout the second.

The Lakers gained momentum in the third period thanks to a goal from grad student Conner Sedia, who was able to capitalize on feeds coming from Nathan Chung and Nicholas Ramm. The game-winning goal came from newcomer Bowman Klippenstein, who netted his first career ACHA goal, as well as Riordan Sjovold, who scored off a pass from junior William Neeld at 13:51.

While Towson was able to net a second goal late in the third, the Lakers were able to persevere and secure the 3-2 win, earning freshman Henry Hunt his first career ACHA win between the pipes.

In Game 2, some back-and-forth play from both teams left the game scoreless through the first period. Towson managed to score two goals in the latter half of the second period.

Early in the third period, Towson finds the back of the net for a third goal, but sophomore defenseman Nicholas Eberhardt scored a quick power play goal from the point, thanks to feeds from Sedia and Nicholas Botzenhart.

Towson was able to hold on and secure the 3-1 victory to split the series.

The Green and Blue will head to Flint, Mich. Sep 20 for a brief road trip.
