Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst baseball team is set to play their final road NEC series this weekend as they'll take on Norfolk State in a three-game series. The Lakers will then make the trip to Canisius for one game next Tuesday. They're looking to draw closer to a winning record in conference play. They have to win their final six conference games to finish above .500 in conference action.

On the Diamond:
The Lakers senior leaders have continued to produce for them.
Eric Chorba and
Jayden Walker are both hitting above .300. The duo has combined for 16 home runs and 50 RBIs. They've both racked up NEC honors multiple times to this point. They'll be looking to finish up the year on a high note. The two will be key in the Lakers' effort to finish with a winning record in conference play.
Ethan Adams is third in home runs on the team with five. He's also tied with Chorba for second with 20 RBIs. On the mound,
Jacob Bazala and
Aidan Kelly continue to be forces. Bazala went nine innings last weekend and struck out six. Although he finished with a no decision, he was key in the Lakers evening up the series against Wagner. Kelly will likely get the nod on the bump in game one of the series. He's second on the team with 54 punchouts.

Scouting Norfolk State:
Norfolk State currently has the worst record in Division I. They sit at 2-31 to this point. But they're coming off of a huge win over the No. 1 team in the NEC. They picked up a 13-2 win over Central Connecticut State. Although they ultimately lost the series, they walk into their series against the Lakers with a little bit of momentum. They'll lean on Justin Journette and Jamal Ritter to spark their offense. The two have combined for 20 home runs and 54 RBIs. The Lakers will aim to shut down the top of the lineup as they hope to grab their fourth NEC series victory.
Â
Scouting Canisius:
The Lakers will meet with Canisius for the second time this season. The Lakers fell to them 7-5 at home earlier this year. Since then, they've won 10 games and now sit at 11-24. Trent Rumley has led the way for them this season with a .364 batting average. He's one of two players with a batting average higher than .300. Mercyhurst will be looking to grab a win to split the season series.
Â
Next Game:
The Lakers will now have a doubleheader on Friday. Game one will now begin at 2:00 p.m. and game two will start 5:30 p.m. All the action can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
