Brookville, NY.- Mercyhurst wrapped their time in New York up on Saturday with an 11-3 loss to LIU. Just a week after earning their first ever NEC sweep, the Lakers were swept for just the second time this season.
How it Happened:
The Sharks picked up right where they left yesterday after Ryan Rivera and Tyler Benick helped them grab a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. Through the first three innings, they continued to hit well as they earned six hits off
Jacob Bazala. But they still were only up two runs after the third thanks to
Landon DiBeradin hitting in
Nick Jackson to make it a 3-1 contest. DiBeradin's next time up, he cut that lead to just one. But almost immediately, Benick recorded his second and third RBIs of the day to widen the gap back to three. In the sixth inning, Jack Ryan knocked a home run to make it 6-2. The Sharks tacked on four more runs before things were said and done as the Lakers offense continued to sputter in the 11-3 loss.
Next Game:
The Lakers will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they return home to kick off a five-game homestand. They'll play Niagara at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
