Erie, PA – Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 19-6 road victory over NEC opponent CCSU. The Lakers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, securing their third straight conference win on Senior Day.
How it Happened
Mercyhurst wasted no time getting on the board, opening the game with five straight goals. Meghan Nasman, Maggie Sheehan, Whitley Easton, Ellie Schau, and Emma Cimino each found the back of the net to give the Lakers a commanding 5-0 lead. CCSU managed to respond with a goal of their own, but Paige Drazek and Sheehan, with her second of the quarter, extended the Mercyhurst lead. One more goal from the Blue Devils made it 7-2 at the end of the first.
The second quarter started just like the first, with Easton and Schau each scoring to stretch the lead to 9-2. CCSU battled back with two goals sandwiched around tallies from Cimino and Brynn Hall, but the Lakers still carried a comfortable 11-4 lead into halftime.
Mercyhurst took complete control in the third quarter, shutting out CCSU while pouring in five more goals. Hannah Young sparked the run, followed by Cimino, a pair from Amanda Bailey, and another from Nasman to make it 16-4 heading into the final frame.
In the fourth, Cimino struck again to cap off her four-goal afternoon. While CCSU managed to score twice more, Nicole Hetzer's two late goals helped seal the commanding 19-6 win for the Lakers.
