Lakers Fall Late as FDU Evens the Series

4/18/2025 4:11:00 PM

Box Score Teaneck, NJ.- The Mercyhurst baseball team fell in game two of their three game series today as FDU claimed a comeback victory to even the series at one. The Lakers held a 7-5 lead until the eighth inning, when Tyler Worth gave the Knights the lead with a two RBI single.

How it Happened:
After falling 10-6 yesterday, the Knights got to work quickly on Friday. Hunter Ray gave them a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer and the next batter, Johnathan Gomez, followed it up with a home run of his own to make it a three-run ball game. But Mercyhurst tied things just as quickly as Casey Smith hit a sacrifice fly and Chris Juchno hit a two RBI double. Joey Trivisonno broke the tie in the fourth inning with another sacrifice fly to put Mercyhurst up for the first time in the game. Ethan Adams and Ranciel Ventura then tacked on two more runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-3. Adams RBI came on a double as he continues his impressive rookie season.

The Knights weren't going to go down quietly though. They hit their third and fourth home runs of the day to make it 6-5 going into the sixth inning. Jayden Walker added what the Lakers hoped would be an insurance run in the eighth with a sacrifice fly, but in the bottom half of the inning, the Knights stormed back to reclaim the lead. Nick Noble then closed things out for the Knights to earn the save for them in a 8-7 win.

Next Game:
The Lakers and Knights will close their three game series tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. All of the action can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
