Men’s Tennis Closes Season with Pair of Big Wins

Altoona, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team ended their season on a high note with two big wins. The Lakers earned their first ever win over Duquesne with 5-2 victory and then took down St. Francis 4-0.
 
How it Happened:
Duquesne:
In doubles, David Mengher and Mykhalio Polishchuk took down Enrique Lana and Uvan Patel 6-4 before Lukas Cabue and Danylo Rekun clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory of their own. Rekun continued his hot streak with an important 7-5, 6-4 win over Alfrendo Vogelaar to give Mercyhurst a 2-0 lead. Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi then took down Keita Duclos 7-5, 6-3. The Lakers clinched with Colm Schultz's 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win over Aril Kayra Tuna. Cabue also had a big win over Arnau Anton Garcia.
 
St. Francis:
The Lakers stayed hot on Sunday. In doubles, Schultz and Kolidynskyi beat Gregory Troyan 6-2 to give Mercyhurst an early advantage. Mengher and Polishchuk clinched the point for Mercyhurst with their 6-4 win over Matt Kozar and Kevin Titus Suresh. Rekun gave Mercyhurst another 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-4 over Alan Gonzalez before Polishchuk and Kolidynskyi closed things out. Polishchuk beat Kozar 7-5, 6-1 and then Kolidynskyi beat Mathis Tremblay 7-5, 6-2.
