Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst dropped the series finale of their first ever series against Stonehill on Sunday afternoon. The 9-5 loss was the Lakers sixth loss in their last seven contests. They're now 5-5 at home this season and 7-11 in conference play.
Â
How it Happened:
Stonehill picked right up where they left off on Saturday against the Lakers. The Skyhawks started the game with five walks and three hits, including three straight RBI singles that made it a 5-0 game. The Lakers senior leaders remained hot though. Senior
Jayden Walker hit his seventh home run of the season to make it a 5-2 game after the end of the first inning. But an Aidan Cohall homer and an Aidan Sengenberger RBI single gave the Skyhawks those runs right back. In the third inning, Grayson Sparr led off the inning with another home run as Mercyhurst found themselves in an early 8-2 hole.
Â
It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth that the Lakers got on the board again.
Ranciel Ventura hit his first home run of the season to make it a five run ball game. Once again, Stonehill had an answer. Jack Thorbahn hit an RBI double to get the lead back to six. The Lakers had one last comeback attempt in them in the ninth inning. They grabbed a pair of runs in the inning after
Chris Juchno got hit by a pitch to drive in a run and then
Landon DiBeradin hit sacrifice fly. Then with the bases loaded and a chance to tie the game, Stonehill was able to get Walker swinging to clinch the series with a 9-5 win.

Next Game:
The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday when they'll take on Youngstown State at home. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. and the game can be caught on the NEC Front Row.
