4/1/2025 6:28:00 PM

Box Score Kent, Oh.- Mercyhurst fell to Kent State 13-3 in their second matchup of the year. The Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the first before the Golden Flash outscored them 13-1 throughout the rest of the game. The Lakers still have just one nonconference win in their first year at the Division I level.

How it Happened:
The Lakers loaded the base with their first four batters of the game as Chris Juchno, Jayden Walker and Landon DiBeradin all walked to start the game. Freshman Ethan Adams drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly as Juchno scored his 17th run of the season. Casey Smith made it a 2-0 game with an RBI single, but the lead was short lived for Mercyhurst. In the bottom of the first, Hayden Jatczak hit an RBI triple and was immediately driven in by Jake Casey to knot things up. In the second, Kent State took the lead for good after Micah Kiracofe two RBI triple and a Jatczak RBI single made it 5-2. Brody Williams hit a two run homer in the third to extend the lead and then an inning later, the Golden Flash hit another four runs to make it 10-2. Adams made a slight dent in the lead with an RBI single in the fifth, which marked his second RBI of the game, but in the eighth Kent State closed things out with another Jatczak RBI and a Sawyer Solitaria single to make it 13-3.
