Mercyhurst Set for Four Game Homestand

Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst is set to return home after two weeks away for their fourth NEC series of the season. The Lakers will welcome the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to town for a three-game series and then they will host Kent State on Tuesday.
 
On the Diamond:
Eric Chorba continues to pace the Lakers on the offensive side of things. He's hitting .309 and has tallied 25 hits this season. He's tied with four other players for the team lead in home runs with two as well. Jayden Walker has hit in a team-high 11 RBIs. Chris Juchno and Chorba are tied with seven extra base hits as the Lakers have nearly hit the halfway point of the season. Juchno and DiBeradin have been solid on base as they lead the team in stolen bases. Juchno has 11 and DiBeradin has 10. Daniel Thomas leads Mercyhurst on the mound. He has a 2-3 record, but Jacob Bazala has a team-high 35 strikeouts. Bazala has also recorded a win and a save in nine appearances this season.
 
Scouting UMES:
The Lakers and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore have had almost an identical beginning to the 2025 season. They've posted a 4-18 record and are just 3-6 in conference play. They're coming off a 1-2 weekend in conference play against Stonehill. Diego Aponte has had a great start to the season for the Hawks. He's hit in 21 RBIs and is one of three players to be hitting above .300. Jonathon Gonzalez Perez is hitting .394 for them and has 14 RBIs, which is second on the team. Mercyhurst will be looking to stop the top of their lineup as they aim for their second NEC series win of the year.
 
Scouting Kent State:
The Lakers have already seen Kent State once this season. They fell on the road 18-6 in just eight innings. Since then, Kent State is 7-5. They'll be taking on Toledo before they make their way to Erie for the first time. Sawyer Solitaria has hit in a team-high 31 RBIs for the Golden Flash. Hayden Jatczak is hitting .371 for them. The Lakers will need to shut them down in order to earn a season series split.
