Box Score Radford, Va.- Mercyhurst fell in game two of their three game series against Radford in a 9-1 decision Saturday afternoon. The Lakers are still searching for their second win of the season after the loss. They have just two more road games before they finally make their way to Erie for their first ever Division I home series.

How it Happened:
Daniel Thomas took the mound for the first time since he earned the Lakers first ever Division I win. But his second outing as a starter didn't go as smoothly as the first. Radford opened up the scoring in the bottom half of the second inning when Brady Whitacre took Thomas deep to lead off the inning. Radford added on another two runs in the inning from a Jhonkeanu Perez F8 sacrifice fly and when Breckin Nace reached base on a fielder's choice. Freshman Ethan Adams answered back with Mercyhurst's lone run of the day in the top of the third though. Adams hit the first home run of his Laker career to cut the lead to 3-1. In the fourth, Whitacre grabbed his second RBI of the day as a single drove in a pair of runs. The second run came on an E4, so Whitacre didn't get credit for the RBI. Noah Toole added another to bump the Highlanders' lead to 6-1. In the seventh, Mercyhurst grabbed a hit as Ranciel Ventura reached base with two outs, but Chris Juchno popped out to end the inning. In the bottom half of the frame, Nace scored scored on a wild pitch to make it a six run ball game.

The Lakers were looking to get back into things in the sixth. They loaded the bases up with one out, but back-to-back outs ending the threat and they came away empty handed. The final two runs of the day came in the bottom of the seventh as Nace hit a two-run homer to right center as the Highlanders ran away with a 9-1 win.

Next Game:
The Lakers will close out the series tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. as they wrap up their time in the South.
