Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst is back on the road for their third weekend of action as they'll take on Radford. This is the Lakers' second series this season and they'll be aiming for their first ever Division I series win. They'll finish out their road trip in Kent, Oh. on Tuesday before they come home to Erie for their first home Division I series.
Lakers Rolling:
The Lakers are walking into the weekend with a 1-6 record as they navigate their first season at the Division I level. They made history in the first game of a doubleheader last week when they took down Gardner-Webb 5-0. But now they're searching for their first series win before they prepare to come home to Erie for their first ever series at home as a Division I team.
Lakers Leaders:
Eric Chorba has led the Lakers offensively through seven games thus far. Chorba has hit .333 so far this season as he has eight hits through 24 at-bats.
Chandler Powell and
Ranciel Ventura are tied for second with five hits apiece. Joey Trivisonno has three total RBIs, which is the most on the team.
Aiden Kelly has the lowest ERA on the team through two starts with a 2.00. In 9.0 innings of work, he has nine strikeouts and has allowed just eight hits.
Scouting Radford:
Radford is 2-5 through their first seven games. They took the first game of a doubleheader against Quinnipiac last week, but they fell in the final two matchups. Jhonkeanu Perez and Tyler Kehoe have been on a tear for Radford to start the season. Perez is hitting .483 with seven extra base hits and four RBI, while Kehoe is hitting .333 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. The Lakers will look to shut them down as they look to take a series in Virginia.
Scouting Kent State:
Kent State is just 1-5 so far this season. They're coming off of a series against Mercer in which they were unable to claim a game. Before they take on the Lakers, they have matchups with East Carolina, Virginia Tech and Indiana State. Jake Casey and Hayden Jatczak have led the way for them offensively as each have compiled nine total hits. Sawyer Solitaria leads them with eight RBIs and has taken two deep this season.
Next Game:
The Lakers will kick off the series tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in Virginia. It'll be the first of three games. They'll then make the trip to Kent, Oh. to take on Kent State before they come home to face Coppin State next Friday.
