Williamsville, NY.- The Mercyhurst Women's tennis team earned their first ever Division I duals match win on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated Daemen 7-0. The Lakers saw dominant play from front to back as they improved to 1-1.  
 
How it Happened:
In doubles, Roisin Murphy teamed up with Sara Bertolez and the duo picked up a 6-3 win. Daria Rogova and Andjela Mrvaljevic earned a 6-1 win over Bella Bjerkan and Zoe Gietmann. The Lakers finished out the doubles portion of the match with a 6-0 win as Kiersten Brown and Sierra Rodgers picked up their first victory of the season together.
 
The Lakers dominated from front to back in singles without Kayla Dean. Rogova stepped into the No. 1 slot where she picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Yinett Del Leon. Murphy picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 2 slot. Bertolez, Brown, Mrvaljevic and Rodgers all picked up wins in the final four slots. Mrvaljevic kicked off the wins with her 6-0, 6-0 performance over Gietmann before Rogova and Murphy clinched the win for Mercyhurst.
 
Next Match:
Mercyhurst will back in action tomorrow when they take on Cleveland State at 4:00 p.m. They'll be looking to pick up their second win in the young season.
