ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's ACHA team hosted CHMA opponents Kent State and Duquesne over the weekend. The Lakers looked to move up the league standings with their last pair of games before the holiday break.

In the first game against Kent,
Connor Bridges got his 2
nd consecutive start after a strong showing the pervious weekend against St. Bonaventure.

In the 1
st period, the Lakers were unable to find the back of the net as Kent fired off 3 goals within the first 12 minutes of the game. One of which was on the power play.

In the 2
nd period,
Max Ingerman came into the game in relief for Bridges at 8:17. Ingerman, a freshman, made his first career ACHA appearance in the game and remained in the game for the Lakers. Just after the 10-minute mark,
Nick Eberhardt scored his 2
nd goal of the season on the powerplay for the Lakers. He was assisted by
Nathan Chung and
Riordan Sjovold, their 7
th and 3
rd assist of the year respectively.

The Lakers were unable to answer with a goal for the remainder of the game despite having opportunities on the powerplay throughout the 3
rd period.

The Lakers would ultimately fall to Kent 10-1.

For Duquesne, the Lakers were looking to bounce back and finish the semester on a high note with Bridges starting in net for the Lakers.

In the 1
st period, the Dukes scored an early goal and subsequent supporting goal on the powerplay at 12:37. The Lakers went on the powerplay which opened up an opportunity for
Conner McCusker to score his 2
nd goal of the season. He was assisted by Chung and
Bowman Klippenstein, their 8
th and 3
rd assist of the year respectively.

In the 2
nd period, both teams spent a considerable amount of time in the penalty box, with neither squad able to find the back of the net through their special teams. Duquesne was able to score a little over 14 minutes into the period, but
Kaden Bolter was able to answer in the final minutes of the frame, his 5
th goal of the season. Bolter was assisted by
William Neeld and
Cameron Glance, their 8
th and 5
th assist respectively.

In the 3
rd period, Duquesne was able to pull away with a barrage of goals, but the Lakers were able to get a late goal courtesy of
John Hanlon, his 3
rd of the year. Hanlon was assisted by McCusker and Klippenstein, their 8
th and 4
th assists of the season.

The Lakers would eventually fall to the Dukes 8-3.

Bridges stopped 38 of his 46 shots faced.

The Lakers return to action Friday, January 16 in Rochester, N.Y. to face off against the RIT Tigers. Puck drop set for 6:30 PM.
