OLEAN, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst Men's ACHA team traveled along Route 86 to Olean, N.Y. for a matchup against the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure on Sunday.

Connor Bridges got the start in net for the Lakers, his 5
th of the year.

In the 1
st period, the Lakers went on the penalty kill at 10:24 for elbowing, which allowed the Bonnies to score on the powerplay at 11:11. The Lakers were able to kill of their 2
nd penalty of the period, leaving the score at 1-0 heading into the intermission.

With under 2 minutes left in the 2
nd period, freshman forward
Bowman Klippenstein scored his 5
th goal of the year. He was assisted by
William Neeld and
John Hanlon, their 7
th and 2
nd assist of the year respectively.

11 minutes into the 3
rd period,
Antonio Fleck scored his 1
st ACHA goal of his college career, with his assists coming from Klippenstein and
Nick Eberhardt, their 2
nd and 3
rd assist of the season respectively. The Bonnies were able to quickly answer with a game-tying goal 13 minutes into the period. Both teams would trade penalties, but neither was able to take advantage of their power plays.

With just under 2 minutes elapsed in the overtime frame, Klippenstein secured the game-winning goal for the Lakers, his 3
rd point of the night. His assist came from fellow freshman
Evan Peters, his 1
st assist of the year.

The Lakers claimed a hard-fought 3-2 overtime victory, with Bridges stopping 37 of his 39 shots faced. This was his 1
st win of the season.

The Lakers will host CHMA opponents Kent State and Duquesne next at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Puck drops set for Friday, November 21 at 6 PM and Saturday, November 22 at 4 PM respectively.
