Moon Township, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team secured a crucial 4-2 road victory over Robert Morris on Friday night at Clearview Arena. A strong third-period performance and a game-winning power-play goal from Steven Agriogianis lifted the Lakers to their fourth conference win of the season.
How It Happened:
Mercyhurst struck just 16 seconds into the game when Ryan Coughlin found the back of the net off assists from Mickey Burns and Barrett Brooks. Robert Morris responded midway through the period as Dominic Elliott tied the game at 12:54, followed by another goal from Elliott on the power play at 13:53, giving the Colonials a 2-1 lead after the first.
The Lakers wasted no time in the second period, tying the game at 2-2 just 11 seconds in as Mickey Burns capitalized on a feed from Dustin Geregach and Ryan Coughlin. Despite both teams generating offensive chances, the score remained deadlocked heading into the final frame.
In the third period, Mercyhurst took advantage of a power play at 10:55, when Steven Agriogianis netted the game-winning goal, assisted by Riley Fitzgerald and Dustin Geregach. The Lakers sealed the win with an empty-net goal from Tyler DesRochers at 19:25, assisted by Tyler Nasca.
