West Point, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team faced a tough outing on Friday night, falling 9-1 to Army West Point at Tate Rink. The Black Knights dominated from start to finish, capitalizing on their offensive opportunities and holding the Lakers to just one goal.
How It Happened:
Army set the tone early, scoring five goals in the first period, including two from Ben Ivey and one each from Hunter McCoy, Mac Gadowsky, and Nik Hong. The Black Knights continued their offensive onslaught in the second period, adding two more goals, including another from Ivey.
Mercyhurst found the back of the net in the third period when Matteo Disipio scored his first goal of the season at 8:26, assisted by Sean James and Connor Pelc. However, Army responded with two more goals in the final frame, including one from Vincent Salice to seal the 9-1 victory.
