West Point, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team suffered a tough defeat against Army West Point, falling 13-1 on Saturday evening at Tate Rink. The Black Knights capitalized on their offensive opportunities throughout the game.
How It Happened:
Mercyhurst struck first, with Boris Skalos scoring at 11:36 of the opening period, assisted by Will Margel and Brendan Lamb. However, Army quickly responded with two goals late in the period from Nils Forselius and Nik Hong, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
The second period saw the Black Knights take control, scoring seven unanswered goals. Mac Gadowsky recorded two goals and an assist in the period, while six different goal scorers also found the back of the net, extending the lead to 9-1.
Army added four more goals in the third period, highlighted by Hong completing his hat trick and Keefer adding his second of the night. Despite a valiant effort by the Lakers, the Black Knights' relentless attack proved too much.
