Lakers Drop Battle Against Penn

Loretto, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Volleyball team looked to carry the momentum over from their first win of the season yesterday into today's game against Penn. The Lakers couldn't make it two in a row as Penn walked away with a 3-0 win this afternoon.

How it Happened

The Quakers ran away with set one, taking it 25-10.  An early kill by Jessica Wilson tied the set at three.  After taking a five-point lead, a kill by Paige Miller cut the lead to four.  The Quakers ended set one on an 11-1 run.

In set two, the Quakers jumped out to a 14-3 lead early.  The Lakers scored six straight points to cut the Quakers lead to five.  The Lakers battled back but the Quakers ended up taking set two 25-19.

A kill by Abby Miller made it 10-6 in favor of the Quakers in set three, but the Quakers went on a 7-2 run to extend their lead to 17-8.  The Lakers continued to battle but, in the end, it wasn't enough as the Quakers took set three 25-16 and the match 3-0.
