Lakers Set for Four Games This Week

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Volleyball team is set for a full slate this week as they host Canisius on Thursday, travel to Loretta, Pennsylvania for a tournament on Friday and Saturday, where they will face Siena College and Penn, and will wrap up the weekend with another matchup against Canisius, this time at their place.  After an 0-2 start, Coach Patton's group will look to bounce back and grab their first win of the season. 

Last Time Out 

The Lakers are coming off back-to-back losses to Maryland Eastern Shore this past weekend.  In game one against the Hawks, the Lakers went up in the match 2-0, but the Hawks rattled off three straight set wins to take the match 3-2.  In game two, the Hawks ran away with the match, winning 3-0.  The Lakers battled in both matches but weren't able to come away with wins. 

Stats Leaders 

Paige Miller leads the Lakers in kills through two games with 20.  Miller racked up 16 in game one against the Hawks.  Alia Mastromatteo leads the team in assists with 20.  Mastromatteo picked up twelve assists in game one and followed that up with eight in game two.  Kelsie Gaiter-Davis picked up 29 digs over the weekend, which leads the Lakers.  Kaitlin Murphy leads the Lakers in blocks with four. 

A Look at the Opponents 

Canisius is 2-2 so far this season, getting wins over NJIT and Le Moyne.  The Griffins are coming into this matchup after dropping their most recent match against Syracuse.  Lauren Hubert and Kara Zaucha are tied for the team lead in kills with 43.  Siena is 1-2 so far on the season and are coming off a win over Stonehill.  Sara Wagner leads the Saints in kills with 33.  Penn has not played a game yet this season but will take on Saint Francis and Siena before their matchup with the Lakers.
