Women’s Soccer Looks to Carry Momentum Forward

Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Women's Soccer team is preparing for another two-game week as they'll return home to play UMBC on Thursday, September 26th and Central Connecticut State on Sunday, September 29th. After starting the season out 0-7, the Lakers have posted a 1-0-2 record in their last three games.  
 
No Where Like Home:
Since the Lakers returned home on Thursday, September 19th, the entire team has seemed to find their footing. The Lakers have scored seven goals in their last three games after compiling just three in their first seven. The Lakers had three player get honored in NEC Weekly Awards with Graduate Student Chelsea Radicia, Senior Karah Van Horn and Sophomore Madison Sievering all being named Prime Perfomers. Radicia was also named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Lakers Leaders:
Mercyhurst has woken up on the offensive end. The Lakers now have three players with two goals: Sophomore Camille Bultel, Graduate Student Emily Mijares and Van Horn all lead the way on the offensive end. Sievering has tallied three assists, all in the last two game, which is the most on the team. Graduate Student Alyssa Poleski leads the Lakers with with a staggering 765 minutes on the pitch this season. Radicia has contined to get better and better had the season has gone along and she's now up to 60 saves on the year.
 
Scouting UMBC:
Much like the Lakers, UMBC walks into Thursday's matchup with a three-game unbeaten streak. They're coming off of two wins and a tie after starting the season 2-4. They've had eight players score a goal this season, Natasha Munro and Payton Schenning lead the way in point with four each. The Lakers will look to shut down their attack and grab their first home win of the season over the Retreivers.
 
Scouting Central Connecticut State:
At the time of press, Central Connecticut State hasn't won a game yet. The Blue Devils have had a tough start to the 2024 season as they've scored just two goals through eight thus far. Abbie Burgess and Sabrina Krause have each scored, but they've struggled to get their offense going. The Lakers will look to continue this trend when they welcome them to two on Sunday.
