Erie, PA- Mercyhurst Field Hockey fell to NEC opponent Wagner College today by a score of 0-5.
How it Happened
The Lakers started off strong as they had five saves in the first quarter and only allowed one goal, to make the score 0-1 going into the second quarter. The tough fight continued as Mercyhurst continued to play well defensively, as they had four saves and allowed one goal in the second quarter, making the score 0-2 going into the half. The defensive fight continued in the third quarter as the Lakers racked up seven saves and allowed Wagner to score two goals. The score was 0-4 going into the final quarter. Things started to pick up offensively for the Lakers in the fourth quarter as they were able to take three shots, two by senior Delfina Magro and one by senior Maddie Huffer, all of which were deflected. Despite Mercyhurst having five more saves, Wagner came out on top as they scored one more time to make the final score 0-5. Along with her two shots, Magro also had one defensive save. Senior goalkeeper Kayla Desormeau racked up 20 saves on the day.Â
