Hamilton, NY- In a challenging matchup, Mercyhurst Field Hockey faced off against Colgate University today, ultimately falling by a score of 1-5.
How it Happened
Colgate struck first in the opening quarter, scoring two goals fairly quickly, putting the Lakers down 0-2 going into the second quarter. As the game progressed in the first half, Colgate added a third goal to their tally, making the score 0-3 going into halftime. The fight continued in the third quarter, as Colgate scored two more goals, making the score 0-5. Despite being down, Mercyhurst found hope as they scored late in the third quarter. Freshman Lola Williams scored the goal, which was the first of her collegiate career. Both teams finished scoreless in the fourth quarter, ending with the score being 1-5. Other notable plays included junior Maddie Huffer's shot on goal in the third period. Mercyhurst will look to regroup as they prepare for this coming week, aiming to build on the positives from their third quarter goal.
