DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Mercyhurst field hockey team fell 6-0 to Davidson on Friday, Oct. 23, at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field. Despite the result, goalkeeper Victoria Campana delivered a strong defensive performance, recording 20 saves against a high-volume Davidson attack.
Davidson opened the scoring in the first quarter and added another goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats extended their advantage with two more goals in the second quarter before adding two in the third to complete the scoring.
Campana remained active throughout the contest, making seven saves in the opening quarter and eight more in the fourth. She finished with 20 saves on 26 shots on goal, helping the Lakers withstand sustained offensive pressure.
Offensively, Rachel Kosowski recorded Mercyhurst's lone shot of the game, putting it on target in the second quarter and forcing a save from Davidson goalkeeper Eleanor Larsen. The Lakers continued to rotate players throughout the contest as they worked to generate opportunities against the Wildcats' defense.
Mercyhurst will close out its season on Friday, Oct. 30, with an away conference matchup against Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut, at noon. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
