Cleveland, OH. - It was a historic night for the Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team as they not only picked up their first win of the season by defeating Cleveland State 2-0, but it was their first win as a Division 1 program. 

How it Happened 

Luis Felipe Santos got the Lakers on the board late in the first half with an unassisted goal.   

Early in the second half, Danilo Abayo made a key save to keep the Vikings off the board.  Just a few minutes later, Alvar Silva extended the Lakers' lead with a goal that was assisted by Dylan Sumner and Cade Wurstner.  Abayo made another key save late to keep the score where it was.   

Highlights 

Luis Felipe Santos led the Lakers in shots on goal with four and picked up his first goal of the season. 

Danilo Abayo made three saves and picked up the win in net. 

Alvar Silva scored his first goal of the season. 

Dylan Sumner and Cade Wurstner each picked up their first assist of the season. 

Next Up 

The Lakers will return to action on Monday when they travel to Robert Morris.  Kick-off for that match is set for 4 PM.
