Box Score Niagara, NY. - The Lakers traveled to New York to take on Niagara University in their second ever Division I game. Mercyhurst put up a tough defensive effort, but in the end it wasn't enough as they fell 2-0.
How it Happened
The game started off quick for the Purple Eagles as they were able to register two quick shots on goal just 35 seconds into the game, but Mercyhurst goalie,
Kate Costantini, made saves on both shots. The first goal of the game came 21 minutes into the first half when Isabella Mazzaferro took a shot from outside the box that went in just under the top crossbar.
The Lakers immediately went down the field looking to respond, and we're able to muster up to corner kicks. Junior
Bella Flask had the lone shot from the Lakers attempt to knot things up quickly. Sophomore
Anamari Bosnjak led the Lakers with two shots on goal in the first half.
The second half saw shots coming fast furious from the Purple Eagles. Graduate Student
Chelsea Radicia stepped into net for the second half of the matchup, and she was tested just three minutes into the half. Ultimately, Niagara was able to bury their second goal of the game and get some insurance as Sophia Guagliano beat Radicia. The goal came on Niagara's eighth corner kick of the game.
