Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse team hosted Edinboro for a rainy mid-week PSAC matchup. Several Lakers got playing time in the game and were able contribute to a 15-8 win.
How it Happened
Whitley Easton opened the games scoring with a goal just 46 seconds into the game. The Lakers took a 3-0 lead after a goal by Hannah Young and Whitley Easton's second goal of the game. Halfway through the first quarter the Lakers took a 4-0 lead on a goal by Brenna Smith. Alex Finocchario and Hannah Young added goals late in the quarter and the Lakers led 6-0 after one quarter of play.
The Lakers went on the advantage early in the second quarter and Ellie Schau took advantage, finding the back of the net. Schau added her second of the game just minutes later, extending the lead to 8-0. A stretch of play that saw no goals ended with three minutes left in the second quarter as Edinboro got their first of the game. Kate Marafioti scored her first goal of the season with ten seconds left in the second quarter. The Lakers led 9-1 at the half.
Edinboro scored twice in the third quarter, but the Lakers matched them with two goals from Carly Grey.
Maria Salvo opened the fourth quarter scoring with her first career goal. Alexza Zalla scored her first career goal in the fourth quarter. That goal extended the Lakers lead to 13-5. Brenna Smith notched her second of the game and Carly Grey notched her third of the game late in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

The Lakers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Slippery Rock. The Lakers will look to build off their win and grab their first road win of the season. Game time is set for 4 PM.
