Lakers Look to Stay Unbeaten in GMAC Play

Erie, Pa. - In what's shaping up to be a pivotal moment in their season, the Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team is set for a pair of conference matchups against Wheeling University and Lake Erie College. Coming off an electrifying 13-12 victory against their storied rivals, Seton Hill, the Lakers are riding a wave of momentum. With a current record of 6-3, including a flawless 3-0 in conference play, Mercyhurst is keen on extending their winning streak and solidifying their position at the top of the GMAC conference. 

Riding the Wave of Victory 

The Lakers have showcased their resilience and determination throughout the season, epitomized by their nail-biting win over Seton Hill. This victory not only underscored their tactical prowess but also highlighted key players whose performances have been nothing short of phenomenal. 

  • Ethan Landymore has been a revelation this season, leading the team with an impressive 27 goals and 7 assists. His ability to find the back of the net in crucial moments has been a game-changer for Mercyhurst. 

  • Colin Tardif, with his balanced 16 goals and 16 assists, has been instrumental in both scoring and setting up plays, proving to be a versatile threat on the field. 

  • The defense, anchored by Brett Olney in goal, has been unfaltering. Olney's performance, with a .549 save percentage, has been critical in keeping the Lakers competitive in tight contests. 

A Look at the Opponents 

Wheeling comes into the matchup with a mixed season, holding a 3-6 record. Their recent 20-3 triumph over Thomas More has demonstrated their ability to dominate on the field, highlighted by Taylor Ty's standout performance with 13 goals and 20 assists throughout the season.  

The Storm come into the matchup with a record of 4-6 and a 3-1 record in GMAC play. The Storm are coming off a 20-6 loss to #18 Frostburg State. Dawson Kindall leads the Storm in goals with 21, assists with 14, and points with 35.

As Mercyhurst prepares for Wheeling and Lake Erie, the focus will be on maintaining their strategic gameplay, leveraging their key players' strengths, and executing their game plan with precision.
