Greensburg, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Seton Hill for a matchup against the 24th ranked Giffins. The Lakers comeback attempt failed as they fell to the Griffins 16-10.
How it Happened
The Griffins got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Emma Cimino got the Lakers on the board midway through the quarter with an unassisted goal. After a goal by the Giffins, Whitley Easton found the back of the net to make it 4-2. The Griffins got one more before the end of the quarter to make it 5-2.
Whitley Easton opened the second quarter scoring with a goal on the advantage. The Giffins went on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 10-3 lead. Emma Cimino scored a goal at the end of the second quarter, and at the start of the third quarter to make it 10-5. The Lakers outscored the Griffins 3-1 in the third quarter to get to within four.
The Griffins scored five times in the fourth quarter, while the Lakers only scored three times. Emma Cimino, Amanda Bailey and Ellie Schau found the back of the net.
