Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst baseball goes back out on the road this upcoming weekend with the team king the trip to Cary, N.C. for a trio of games. The team begins with Concord on Friday, March 1st, at 1:30 p.m. with Frostburg State the following day at 10:30 a.m. They then round out their time in the tournament with PSAC foe West Chester on the 3rd in a 1:00 p.m. start time.

Laker Leaders

Mitchell Grosch has been the team's top hitter in the early part of the season with an OPS of 1.442 with a team-high eight hits to his line for a batting average of .615. Zachary Kourous has the team-high in RBIs with eight already to his line while his trio of extra base hits being tied for the most on the team alongside Luke Jackson whose .706 SLG currently leads the team. On the mound, Corbin Foy's 7.1 innings is most on the team with his 1.23 ERA also leading the way as are his 13 Ks.

Scouting Concord

The Mountain Lions are 3-4 to this point in the season after a three-game set with Ashland that saw the Eagles come out on top in all three games including a 16-0 win in the middle contest. Concord has already been one PSAC foe this year in Pitt-Johnstown with the two teams meeting on the 18th and 19th of February with Concord taking two of three. It was an offensive showcase for the Mountain Lions in that series as they scored 39 runs, hoping for similar success once again.

Scouting Frostburg State

The Bobcats are 3-4 to this point in the season, winning three of their last four. The team is no stranger to Cary, N.C. with the team starting their time at the complex this past weekend when they saw Goldey-Beacom, Clarion, and Kutztown in four games. The majority of Frostburg's schedule to begin the year is PSAC teams with them already seeing both the Golden Eagles and Golden Bears with Merychurst, West Chester, and Gannon to come this upcoming weekend. Cy Probst has had the hottest bat to begin the year with an OPS of 1.022 for second-best on the team while his .407 batting average comes in first to go along with his trio of extra base hits.

Scouting West Chester

The Golden Rams have gotten off to the kind of start that they have wanted to as they are sitting at 3-0 in the early part of the season. Offense has not been an issue for the team to this point with 45 runs in three games this past weekend with a high of 17 in their season opener against Charleston. They come off a season in which they finished 32-20 while making it to the final of the NCAA Regionals and look for even more success this time around.

Next Game

The Lakers head back to West Virginia for their next set of games, going to Salem for four games. The team begins their time on the road on Saturday, March 9th, when they see Findlay for a pair of games before a pair of contests with Salem on the 10th with things set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
