Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Ice Hockey team hosted Niagara for their final regular season game of the season. Matt Lenz, Philip Waugh, Steven Agriogianis, Garrett Dahm, Keanan Stewart, Mickey Burns, Marko Reifenberger, and Adrien Bisson were all honored for Senior Day. The Lakers couldn't complete the comeback and suffered a 4-3 loss to the Purple Eagles.
How it Happened
The Lakers took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Adrien Bisson, but the Purple Eagles scored two goals late in the period to take a 2-1 lead after one. Both Purple Eagle goals came off the stick of Glebs Prohorenkovs.
The Purple Eagles scored just four minutes into the second period to extend their lead to 3-1. Jack Richard found the back of the net for the goal. The Lakers answered right back with a goal from Garrett Dahm. Dahm ripped a shot from just inside the blue line and found the top left corner of the net. Just a few minutes later the Purple Eagles scored again, this time it was off the stick of Aron Jessli. The Lakers answered that goal with one of their own late in the second period. Trent Sambrook grabbed the puck out of the air and found Boris Skalos who looped around the net. Skalos fired and scored to make it 4-3 Purple Eagles.
A scoreless third period saw the Purple Eagles hold their 4-3 lead and come away with the win.
