Buffalo, NY. - The Mercyhurst Men's Ice Hockey team traveled to Canisius for the first round of the AHA Tournament. The Griffins got out to an early lead and didn't look back, grabbing a 5-2 win over the Lakers.
How it Happened
Erik Urbank and Griffin Loughran scored for the Griffins in the first period, both at even strength.
Late in the second period, the Griffins scored two more goals. The first one came off the stick of Kyle Haskins and the second one off the stick of Stefano Bottini. The Griffins extended their lead to 4-0.
Midway through the third period, the Lakers scored on the power-play. Keanan Stewart got the Lakers on the board with a power-play goal. Later in the period, Will Margel scored on the power-play to make it 4-2. The Griffins added an empty net goal to make it 5-2 and that would eventually be the final.

Trent Sambrook, Boris Skalos, and Garrett Dahm all tallied assists.
Owen Say stopped 25 shots in net.
