Lakers Fly By Purple Eagles

Niagara Falls, NY. - The Mercyhurst Men's Ice Hockey team were on the road at Niagara for the second game of the week between the two teams. The Lakers scored just 17 seconds into the game and never looked back in a 6-1 win.  

How it Happened 

The Lakers got out to an incredibly early 1-0 lead on a Spencer Smith goal, just 17 seconds into the first period.  Back-to-back goals by Boris Skalos extended the Lakers lead to 3-0. Skalos first goal came at 6:42 in the period and his second came at 16:27. Skalos second goal came on a 2 on 1, and he beat the goaltender in between his glove and the post. 

Midway through the second period, the Lakers added another. This time it was Garrett Dahm who found the back of the net. The Lakers held a 4-0 lead. A few minutes later, the Lakers went on the power-play and Steven Agriogianis buried a power-play goal, extending the lead even further.  

After going scoreless through two periods of play, Shane Ott got the Purple Eagles on the board early in the third period. Ryan Coughlin added one more for the Lakers, extending the lead to 6-1.         

Highlights 

Boris Skalos recorded the second multi-goal game of his career. 

Spencer Smith has now scored in back-to-back games, after recording his third career goal.  

Garrett Dahm recorded a goal and two assists, bringing his season point total to 25. 

Steven Agriogianis scored his sixth goal of the season and his first since early December. Agriogianis added an assist in the win.  

Ryan Coughlin tallied a goal and an assist.  

Jake Beaune and Will Margel recorded two assists each. 

Owen Say stopped 34 shots and got the win. 

11 different Lakers recorded a point in the win. 

The Lakers blocked 15 shots as a team.
