Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Ice Hockey team welcomed the Niagara Purple Eagles to town for an early week matchup. This game was supposed to be played in January but was postponed due to weather. Two third period goals by the Purple Eagles would be the difference in a 4-1 loss for the Lakers.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles got out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Jack Richard. The Lakers had a couple of chances in front of the net to tie the game, including shots by Garrett Dahm and Boris Skalos, but both ended up being saves by Jarrett Fiske.
Early in the second period, Tyler Wallace gave the Purple Eagles a 2-0 lead. A few minutes later, the Purple Eagles scored again, this time it came off the stick of Drew Vieten. Smith made a break for the front of the net and Brooks threw a beautiful pass in front of the net and Smith flipped it past the goaltender for the goal.
