Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team battled valiantly but fell 4-2 to the Bentley Falcons on Friday night at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Despite a strong start and a late push, the Lakers couldn't overcome Bentley's third-period surge.
How It Happened:
After a scoreless first period, the Lakers struck first midway through the second. Ryan Coughlin netted his third goal of the season at 12:44, assisted by Steven Agriogianis and Dustin Geregach. Bentley responded with a power-play goal by Ethan Leyh at 18:58 to tie the game heading into the final frame.
Bentley took control in the third period, scoring twice within the first seven minutes. Nick Bochen converted on a power play at 6:04, followed by Ryan Mansfield's even-strength tally at 6:52, which proved to be the game-winner. Mercyhurst pulled within one at 16:47 when Riley Fitzgerald scored with the extra attacker, assisted by Dominik Bartecko and Caleb Price. However, Bentley sealed the game with an empty-net goal by Ethan Leyh at 18:47.
