Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team faced off against Sacred Heart in a Saturday afternoon contest but fell short, losing 4-1. Despite taking an early lead, the Lakers couldn't hold back the Pioneers' offense, which scored four unanswered goals to claim victory.
How It Happened:
Mercyhurst opened the scoring in the first period when Sean James netted an even-strength goal at 7:57, assisted by Steven Agriogianis and Boris Skalos. The Lakers held the 1-0 lead through the first intermission.
Sacred Heart tied the game just 38 seconds into the second period with a goal from John Jaworski, assisted by Hunter Sansbury and Aiden VanRooyan. Jaworski struck again at 6:28 on the power play, assisted by Mikey Adamson and Felix Trudeau, giving the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. Sacred Heart extended their lead to 3-1 at 11:06 with another power-play goal, this time from Hunter Sansbury, with assists from Adamson and Trudeau.
In the third period, Sacred Heart sealed the game when Daniel Ebrahim scored an even-strength goal at 4:51, assisted by John Jaworski and Mikey Adamson, making it 4-1.
