USAF Academy, Co. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey team fell 1-0 to Air Force in a tightly contested Atlantic Hockey game on Friday evening. Despite a stellar performance from goaltender Carter McPhail, who stopped 40 shots, the Lakers were unable to capitalize offensively and dropped to 2-11-0 overall and 2-7-0 in conference play. Air Force improved to 7-6-0 and 4-1-0 in Atlantic Hockey action. 
How It Happened: 
The game remained scoreless through two periods, with both teams trading chances. Mercyhurst's defense, led by Trent Sambrook and Caleb Price held firm under consistent pressure from Air Force's attack. Goaltender Carter McPhail made critical saves to keep the game level, stopping all 31 shots through 40 minutes. 
Air Force broke the deadlock at 8:24 of the third period when Chris Hedden scored the game's only goal, assisted by Austin Schwartz and Mason McCormick. The Lakers pushed hard for an equalizer in the final minutes, pulling McPhail for an extra attacker, but Air Force's defense held strong to preserve the shutout.
