Erie, Pa.- Mercyhurst quickly got back into the win column on Tuesday night when they picked up a 98-45 win over Mount Aloysius. The Lakers are undefeated at home through three games thus far in the 2024-2025 season.
Â
How it Happened:
Graduate Student
Jeff Planutis helped kick things off with a quick layup and a little over a minute later he assisted Senior
Aidan Reichert on the second basket of the game. Both were NEC Prime Performers last week, and they continued their hot streaks on Tuesday night. The Lakers defense also had a solid start as they didn't allow their first field goal until the 14:30 mark of the first half. A minute and a half later, a three pointer from Freshman Mykolaus Ivanauskas started a 14-3 run to put the Lakers up 26-12 at the halfway point. Mount Aloysius scored just 11 more points in the half. Mercyhurst held the Mounties to just four field goals in the first 20 minutes. On the Lakers end, they shot 48.7% from the field. At half, Mercyhurst held a 54-23 lead.
Â
The second half was much of the same as the Mounties couldn't knock down their shots. But in the first ten minutes of the half, Mount Aloysius dropped 17 points, with nine of them coming from Alphonso Morrow. To finish off the game, the Lakers went on a 25-5 run that included eight points from both Freshman
Deshaun Jackson Jr. and Freshman
Qadir Martin.
