Reichert Hits Career Milestone as Lakers Fall in Colorado

11/24/2024 6:14:00 PM

Box Score Air Force Academy, Co.- Mercyhurst began their first-ever West Coast road trip on Sunday as they traveled to Colorado for a matchup with Air Force. The Lakers scored a season-low 48 points in the 82-48 loss, but Senior Aidan Reichert surpassed 1,000 career points in the game.

How it Happened:
Air Force, who earned just their second win, was looking to bounce back after they've dropped three straight games. They came out with a sense of urgency as they scored on their first three possessions. The Falcons knocked down two three pointers that contributed to an early 9-4 lead, but Mercyhurst was able to fight back and take the lead just under four minutes in. Back-to-back three pointers from Mykolaus Ivanauskas and Jeff Planutis gave the Lakers a 10-9 lead. That lead didn't last long and before Mercyhurst knew it, Air Force was back up by two possessions. A little over ten minutes later, Ivanauskas knocked down a jumper to bring Mercyhurst back within two points and make the score 22-20, but thanks to their efficiency on the offensive end, Air Force walked into the half up 31-24.

In the second half, the Falcons really started to pull away. They held Mercyhurst to 24 points in both halves. From the 15-minute mark on, the Lakers scored just 17 points, but for Air Force it felt like they could knock down anything they wanted. In the game, the Falcons shot a staggering 65% from the field and shot 71% from behind the arc. On the flip side, Mercyhurst knocked down just four three-point shots.

Highlights:
Aidan Reichert led the team with 11 points on the day as he knocked down five field goals. Reichert also scored his 1,000th career point as he continues to be one of the Lakers most consistent players. Planutis dropped 10 points and has still scored 10 or more points in every game this season.

Next Game:
Mercyhurst will look to get back on track against one of their toughest tests yet when they take on Cal. The action kicks off at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and can be on ACC Network.
