Moon Township, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey team is looking to keep their three-game winning streak alive when they travel to Robert Morris for a CHA series between the second place Lakers and the third place Colonials.      

History Lesson

The Lakers and Colonials split their first series of the season back in October.  The Lakers took game one 9-2 and the Colonials took game two 3-2.  Sara Boucher and Sydney Pedersen each had four points in that series.    

Last Time Out

The Lakers are coming off a series sweep of Syracuse.  The Lakers took game one by a score of 2-1.  In a game where the Lakers led from start to finish, Sara Boucher and Thea Johansson scored both goals in that win.  The Lakers took game two by a score of 6-2.  The Lakers scored five times in the third period after the game was tied at one at the end of the second period.  Thea Johansson and Vanessa Upson each finished with three points in the win.  Both had two goals and an assist.  Megan McKay and Chantal St-Croix had a goal and an assists.  Sara Boucher and Olivia Cvar each had two assists.  Ena Nystrøm stopped 42 shots on the weekend.    

Staying Hot

With the series sweep of Syracuse, the Lakers improve to 11-12-1 overall and 7-3 in the CHA.  The Lakers have now won three games in a row and now five out of the last six.  In that stretch of games the Lakers are outscoring their opponents 22-11.  With the remainder of their schedule being CHA opponents, the Lakers are getting hot at the right time.      

Stats Leaders

Sara Boucher leads the Lakers in goals (12), assists (15), and points (27).  With three goals this past weekend, Thea Johansson is now in sole possession of second on the team in goals with 11.  Sydney Pedersen is second in assists with 14.  Sofia Nuutinen and Vanessa Upson are tied for second in points with 20.  Ena Nystrøm is 11-11-1 in net with a .924 save percentage, 2.38 goals allowed average, 669 saves, and five shutouts.  

A Look at the Opponent

In the first season back as a program, Head Coach Logan Bittle has the Colonials sitting at 8-14-0 overall and 5-5-0 in the CHA.  The Colonials are coming off a series split against Lindenwood.  Alaina Giampietro leads the Colonials in goals with ten and points with 17.  Janelle Evans leads the Colonials in assists with 12.  Maggie Hatch is 5-9-0 in net with a .923 save percentage, 3.05 goals allowed average, and 543 saves.
