Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey team is set to host CHA foe Syracuse this weekend.  This will be the first matchup between the two this season.  Puck-drop for Friday night's game is set for 6 PM.     

History Lesson 

The Lakers and Orange played six times a season ago, including a matchup in the CHA semifinal.  The Lakers won the season series 5-0-1 including winning the first two games of a best of three series in the CHA semifinal.     

Flashback 

This past weekend the Lakers split a series with #13 Yale.  The Lakers dropped game one 2-0.  Ena Nystrøm stopped 27 shots, and Sofia Ljung had a team high five blocked shots.  The Lakers bounced back the following night, grabbing a 2-0 win.  Vanessa Upson scored both Lakers goals, while winning 27 faceoffs.   Sara Boucher added two assists to bring her season total to 13.  Ena Nystrøm didn't allow a goal for the fifth time this season and stopped a season-high 46 shots.

CHA Honors 

Vanessa Upson earned Forward of the Week honors after she scored both goals in Saturday's win over #13 Yale.  Ena Nystrøm earned Goaltender of the Week honors after her 73 save weekend, including a 46 save shutout on Saturday.     

A Look at the Opponent 

The Syracuse Orange are 4-14-2 this season and are coming off a loss to #4 Colgate.  The Orange have four different players tied for the team lead in goals with five.  Kate Holmes and Alexandria Weiss lead the Orange in assists with nine.  Holmes leads the Orange in points with 14.  Allie Kelley is 4-14-1 in net with a 3.82 goals-against average, 0.897 save percentage, 603 saves and one shutout.
