Box Score Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Women's Soccer team capped off another solid week, winning their second game of the week, outscoring UPJ 4-0. The team improves their record to 8-1 and remains one of the top contenders in the conference.
How it Happened:
The scoring got under way thanks to a left footed bullet from Corinne Morgan. After a slow start, Morgan found some space with a little over fifteen minutes to play in the first half. With two defenders to beat, Morgan used her plus speed to create some distance and launched a bullet to beat the UPJ keeper.
Morgan's wheels helped the Lakers tack on another goal with under ten minutes left in the half. Morgan shook a defender on the near side of the field and crossed a perfect ball which found Paulina Harr. Harr converted the pass for her first goal of the season and to give Mercyhurst a 2-0 lead.
It didn't take the Lakers long to add to their lead in the second half. Less than three minutes into the half, Anna Clarke took a corner and found Emily Neenan for a header to make it 3-0.
Mercyhurst didn't stop there. Off a throw in, Rebecka Habursky beat a UPJ defender and unleashed a missile that found the back of the net. Habursky's second of the year, extended the Laker lead to 4-0.
