LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse continues their record-breaking season with their most All-Americans ever, claiming nine USILA spots. A trio of players were named to the First Team as Charlie Gleason, Shawn Doran, and Braden McCard grabbed the honors. Myles Hamm and Liam Bogedain made it as Second Team Members while Ethan Landymore, Stephen Morley, and Brett Olney finished on the Third Team with Nicholas Mabe being the team's lone Honorable Mention. Doran added on to his list of accolades as he was also named the USILA DII Player of the Year.
Doran adds another All-American nod to his long list of accomplishments with him claiming a First Team spot. He adds on with the honor of USILA Player of the Year, cementing his legacy as one of the best in Laker history. His 278 face-off wins are the third-most in the nation while his mark of .728 comes in first. Doran added 176 ground balls to his ledger for the second most in the country with 13 goals as well, a career-high.
Gleason and McCard proved big on the defensive side of the field for the Lakers, helping them earn All-American honors. McCard finished second on the team in ground balls with 45, adding 11 caused turnovers to his line and scoring four goals. Gleason was part of a backline that remained stout all season, helping lead the Lakers to just eight goals a game, adding 18 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Hamm has proven to be one of the top goal scorers in the country once again with 53 scores to his line to lead the team and come in eighth in the nation. He has nine games of three or more goals with a season-high of six against Frostburg State in late April, making him one of the more feared attackers in the country. Liam Bogedain joined Hamm on the Second Team thanks to his work on the back line alongside Gleason as their veteran leadership helped solidify one of the better defenses in the country with 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
Stephen Morley was a major asset in the midfield for Mercyhurst. The junior scored five goals while adding 31 ground balls and five caused turnovers to be named to the Third Team. He was joined by Ethan Landymore who has 50 goals on the year to go along with 15 assists and Brett Olney who had an 11-1 record on the year and a 8.5 goals allowed average.
Mabe rounded out the list of recipients of the Laker as a USILA Honorable Mention. The native of Webster, N.Y. scored multiple goals in three games including a hat trick against Mercy on April 1st to help him score a career-high 16 goals, giving him three consecutive seasons of double-digit goals.
Mercyhurst looks to earn their season national title with the Lakers set to play Lenoir Rhyne on Sunday, May 28th, at 1:00 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
