Women's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With a Win

ERIE, Pa. - The Women's Lacrosse Team hosted their Senior Day and Morgan's Message Game today, Apr. 1, 2023.

The team dominated, defeating Slippery Rock 13-10.

Quarter One

It didn't even take a minute, and Meghan Nasman found herself on the board. Whitley Easton claimed the assist.

The Rock scored one to tie it up, but Maggie Newton found a spot on the free-position line. She sent it in for a goal at 8:40. Newton netted another at 7:39.

Victoria Gottorff wrapped up the scoring in the quarter with a goal at 3:36, unassisted.

The team was 6-6 on their clears and Mackenzie Murphy caused two turnovers.

The score going into the second went in favor of the Lakers, 6-2.

Quarter Two

Nasman secured her hat trick at 13:53, assisted by Gottorff. 

Less than a minute later, Newton netted her second of the game at 13:38.

Nasman closed out the quarter with a goal at 00:05 to bring the score to 10-4.

The team won three draw controls and were 100% on their clears.

Quarter Three

Slippery Rock tried to make a comeback netting the first two of the quarter. 

Whitley Easton had other ideas and scored back-to-back goals at 5:55 and 5:13.

Nasman wrapped up the scoring for the Lakers with her fifth of the game, assisted by Easton, at 2:40.

Paige Maneri made three saves this quarter while the team won four draw controls.

Quarter Four

The Lone goal this period went to The Rock.

Allison Lyon caused a turnover, the team went 7-7 on their clears, and Maneri made three saves.

Highlights

The team had a perfect 22-22 on their clears.

Easton and Nasman tallied five points each.

Maggie Newton had eight ground balls.

On the Horizon

The Lakers will host cross-town rival, Gannon, on Apr. 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
