Women's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season With Road Win

California, PA- The Lakers concluded their regular season schedule tonight with a win over Cal U. by a score of 1-0. Mercyhurst finished their fantastic season with an overall record of 15-2-1 and a conference record of 14-1-1. Now that the regular season is in the rear view, the Lakers will now look towards postseason play. Having solidified the number one seed in the West, Rich Wall's squad will prepare for Seton Hill, who they will host in the quarterfinal round on Monday, November 6th, at 3:00PM.

How it Happened:

After scoring only 12 minutes into the game, it seemed as if the Lakers were going to pour it on. Early in the first half, Teagan Mehalko centered a beautiful pass in front of the Cal net. Corinne Morgan timed the pass perfectly and attacked the ball like she was shot out of a cannon. Morgan then found the corner of the net to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

Despite a total of 13 shots and 8 corners, Mercyhurst was held to just one goal, and went scoreless in the second half. In the few attempts Cal had throughout the game, they were turned away by the tough Laker defense.

Highlights:

Corinne Morgan ended the regular season by converting her 10th goal of the season. Morgan also has 7 assists on the year. Teagan Mehalko recorded her third assist on the year and remains a consistent contributor on the offensive end.

Up Next:

Having had success this season against Seton Hill, Mercyhurst will look to duplicate their prior performances against a tough Griffins team. Coming away with wins in both matchups, the Lakers have outscored Seton Hill 6-0 on the season. The 6 goals scored throughout those two games came from 6 different players. The match is scheduled for Monday, November 6th at 3:00 PM. Tickets will become available online leading up to the game. Please click here to purchase ahead of time.
