Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Volleyball team is set to host a pair of home games this weekend against Pitt-Johnstown and Clarion for Homecoming.   

History Lesson 

The Lakers split the season series with Pitt-Johnstown a season ago, winning the first matchup 3-1 and losing the second matchup 3-0.  Clarion won both matchups a season ago against the Lakers, winning 3-0 in the first and 3-0 in the second.   

Flashback 

Last week, the Lakers dropped both matchups, losing a hard-fought match against Slippery Rock and dropped a tough match against Seton Hill.  In the match against Slippery Rock, the Lakers were able to win the first set, but were unable to keep the momentum going as they dropped the next three sets.  Maggie Thomas had a nice day, leading the team in kills with 12.  Andrea Zaric had a nice day serving as she converted five service aces.  Alexa Mitchell continued dishing out assists, adding 35 during the match.  In the match against Seton Hill, Kate Hennessy led the way for the Lakers with eight kills and three service aces.  Maggie Thomas had three blocks, and Alexa Mitchell had 14 assists.

A Look at the Opponent 

Pitt-Johnstown is 10-4 this season.  Pitt has four players with over 100 kills, Lualis Alvarado is the leader with 166.  Alvarado also leads the team in aces with 23.  Mallory Pinske is the leader in blocks with 27.  Adiamar Baez has 493 assists so far this season.  Clarion is 14-2 this season and are currently on a four-game winning streak.  Clarion is led by Cassidy Snider who has 284 kills.  The assists leader is London Fuller who has a whopping 670.  Abigail Selfridge has 28 aces this season.
