The Mercyhurst volleyball team makes their 2026 home debut at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center Friday afternoon, hosting their first invitational of the year against Morehead State, Siena and Cleveland State.

The Lakers opened up their season at the Youngstown State Invitational, facing off against Youngstown State, Canisius and Duquesne. They dropped their first match against the Penguins 3-0, won their second match against the Golden Griffs 3-2 and lost their final match against the Dukes 3-0.

Opposite hitter
Julia Shepherd received NEC Prime Performer honors for her performance at the YSU Invite. She had 30 kills on a .294 hitting percentage, along with eight blocks and six digs.
Setter
Alyssa Krause is a key playmaker for the Lakers. She leads the team with 57 assists and is second with 21 digs. Her 5.18 assists per set is ranked fifth in the NEC.
Look for outside hitter
Roslyn Guerra to be one of the top offensive threats for Mercyhurst. She is second on the team 29 kills, and her 2.64 kills per set is ranked eighth in the NEC.
A Closer Look: Morehead State
- The Eagles started their season 1-2 with matchups against no. 22 Tennessee, Fairfield and Colgate.
- Outside hitter Hollan Everett leads the team with 43 kills. She averages 3.31 kills per set, which ranks fourth in the OVC.
- Morehead State finished the 2025 season 23-9 with a 15-3 conference record and made an appearance in the OVC Conference Championship.
A Closer Look: Siena
- The Saints started their season 1-2, with matchups against Rhode Island, Holy Cross and NEC foe Central Connecticut State.
- Middle blocker Maggie Seymour leads the team with 13 blocks. She averages 1.08 blocks per set, which ranks fifth in the MAAC.
- Siena finished the 2025 season 14-19 with a 9-9 conference record.
A Closer Look: Cleveland State
- The Vikings started their season 2-1, with matchups against Morgan State, Lehigh and Gardner-Webb.
- Setter Fiona Cooper leads the team with 67 assists. Her 7.44 assists per set ranked eighth in the Horizon.
- Cleveland State finished the 2025 season 6-23 with a 4-14 conference record.
